In addition to being the accommodation establishment of choice in Walvis Bay the Langholm Hotel is also famous for its collection of close to 1000 caps displayed in the private bar - The NightCap. What was started by Bruce Stewart, the collection has been added to by many visiting guests and friends since 2005. Each of the caps represents someone somewhere. 95% of our guests are from the corporate and business world who visit us on a regular basis. They come from all over the world, places like Asia, the Americas, Europe, South Africa and, of course, Namibia.
Recently, after a holiday visit to Namibia in 2007, a returning guest, who remembered the collection, brought along a cap of his favourite football team, Paris Saint Germain. This is a fine example of how guests who have stayed at the Langholm remember their stay with us with fond thoughts and memories of good times spent in the NiteCap. Many guests will promise to send a cap once they've returned home, and true to their word a parcel will be delivered a few weeks later containing another treasure to add to the cap-tivating collection. Some high profile caps were gifted by famous South African musician Anton Goosen and captain of the Bombardier which jetted Hollywood sensation Brangelina in and out of Namibia when Brad and Angelina picked Swakopmund, Namibia to be the birthplace of their first born, Shiloh in May 2006.
All of the caps are photographed and are displayed on our Facebook page. Can you find yours? If you have added to this amazing collection, please grab a beer and take a moment to tag yourself and add a comment. Each cap is unique in its own way and is cherished from whom it came - below are a few images from the famous collection which deserve a special mention.
Cheers, beers and Jagermeisters!
